Title Orthographical Dictionaries: How Much Can You Expect? The Danish Spelling Dictionary Revis(it)ed
Abstract Orthographical dictionaries constitute a particular and rather specialised subclass of dictionaries. This contribution offers a presentation of the ongoing revision of a spelling dictionary (for Danish) and a discussion of some of the general and specific issues that have arisen during the project. Firstly, the background is sketched, a brief overview of the many editorial changes is provided, and lemma selection, variant forms and definitions are discussed in some detail. Secondly, the field of orthographical dictionaries in Denmark is compared to some other countries of northern Europe. Finally, the conclusion engages in a discussion of the necessity of this particular type of dictionary
