Title User Support in e-Dictionaries for Complex Grammatical Structures in the Bantu Languages
Abstract This paper discusses direct user guidance as a mechanism in an e-dictionary to provide user support for complex grammatical structures in the Bantu languages. We present a design study to show that user support through direct user guidance can provide solutions in the case of complex concordial relationships between nouns and pronouns. The compilation of the complex relative construction is taken as a case in point. The concept of user support appropriately puts the user in focus. Our approach to user support also caters for the casual, on-the-fly user, who is not interested or in a position to devote time to the learning of a foreign language.
