The benefits of joining EURALEX include:
- a 20% discount on all Oxford University Press (OUP) Linguistics titles
- a discounted Members’ rate for attending EURALEX Congresses
- the right to vote at the General Meeting (held in conjunction with the Congress)
- an option to subscribe to the International Journal of Lexicography at a favourable rate
Types of Membership
There are three ways in which one can become a member of EURALEX:
- by paying the personal society fee via the OUP website
- by paying the institutional society fee via the OUP website (valid for two representatives per institution)
- by attending the congress and paying the registration fee that includes EURALEX membership
Membership via OUP
The EURALEX Membership Year runs from January 1st to December 31st. If you would like to join EURALEX or subscribe to IJL, please go to OUP’s page for IJL and check the annual subscription rates. There are several categories of membership offered to EURALEX members under the heading “Members – European Association for Lexicography”.
Personal Members
Personal society fee can be paid either with or without subscription to IJL.
If you are an existing member and want to renew your membership, choose the option ”Membership – Renewal personal society fee, no IJL subscription”.
If you are not a current member and you want to join EURALEX, please choose the option “New Membership – New personal society fee, no IJL subscription”.
As a EURALEX member, you get a favourable subscription rate to the Association’s journal the International Journal of Lexicography. If you would like personal membership as well as IJL subscription, choose the option “Membership + Personal subscription – Print”.
To join as a new member with an IJL subscription, choose the option “Membership + New personal subscription – Print”.
NB! Please note that print subscription includes also online access to current content.
Congress Members
If you attend a congress and pay the registration fee that includes EURALEX membership, you remain a member up to the end of the next congress. So, by simply attending all congresses, you can remain a personal member.
However, this type of membership does not include a subscription to IJL, and does not include the OUP benefits.
Institutional Members
Institutional Membership is available to institutions, for example publishing houses, libraries, universities, academies, training centres, and other organizations. This type of membership allows institutions to nominate two Representatives, both entitled to the same rights and benefits of Membership as are enjoyed by personal Members of the Association.
Honorary Members
Those who are considered by the Executive Board of the Association, upon the proposal of a Member, to have made an outstanding contribution to lexicography may be invited by the Executive Board to become Honorary Members, provided that any such invitation is endorsed by the General Meeting of the Association. Honorary Members are exempted from paying membership fees. Honorary members of Euralex:
- Sue Atkins (1931-2021)
- Reinhard Hartmann (1938-2024)
- František Čermák
- Robert Ilson
- Patrick Hanks (1940-2024)

Please fill in the relevant form from OUP’s page of the International Journal of Lexicography (select the appropriate type of membership and the currency).
