AbstractThis paper reports some of the results of a research which is being carried out within the ESPRIT project ACQUILEX, aiming at demonstrating the feasibility of building a multilingual lexical knowledge base (for NLP systems) by exploiting different mono- and bi-lingual machine-readable dictionaries as sources of lexical data. In particular, this paper is concerned with the work being done in order to develop techniques and methodologies for the semi-automatic extraction of semantic and syntactic information on Italian verbs from dictionary definitions.
