TitleOn the parsing of definitions
AbstractThis paper describes a pilot project carried out in the Lexicology Subdepartment of the Free University of Amsterdam in which definitions are parsed by means of a concept-oriented parser. The basic features of the system are explained and their relevance shown both for practical purposes (such as information retrieval and 'term generation'), and for theoretical purposes (giving notions such as frames/templates, types, relations an explicit lexicological meaning).
