Abstract |
The GDEF project, which aims at building a large online Estonian-French dictionary, had first of all to define working methods and find innovative computer tools for organizing the work of its geographically dispersed editorial team. The initiators of the project chose to adapt and further develop a research prototype of a free online dictionary-building platform, Jibiki, which has now become a fully functional tool for managing the various aspects of lexicographical work. A specific feature of the work on the GDEF is the centralized storage of French equivalents and their grammatical information: instead of being included once and for all into the entries, they are called dynamically from a separate database. The writing and initial review of entries are carried out by working groups comprising at least a French and an Estonian editor. Editors can have different statuses (author, reviewer, validator), giving them access to different functionalities. |
