Title Dictionary defining language
Abstract The article deals with the problems of semantic standardisation in monolingual dictionaries intended for a wide range of users. The need for the formation of an explicit and defined dictionary defining language (metalanguage) is proposed in this paper. On the one hand, the language should avoid the reductionist approach of dictionaries written only for specialists, on the other hand, it should be more explicit and intentional in using the defining words. An example of causative verbs analysis is introduced to illustrate a procedure.
