Title Feature Detection – A tool for Unifying Dictionary Definitions
Abstract Based on the development of a web-based digital dictionary of contemporary Danish with integrated corpus access, ORDNET, this paper outlines some of the problems connected with semantically oriented search in digital dictionaries; it then presents a statistical method to extract significant indicators of differentiating features from dictionary definitions, Feature Detection, and discusses its potential as a tool for unifying semantically related dictionary definitions, to determine salient differentiating features, and to perform semantic grouping of related words.
