Title Wade through letter A: the current state of the Historical Dictionary of Hungarian
Abstract The Historical Dictionary of Hungarian project has been underway for some years. The first stage consisted of the collection and analysis of a 25 million word Historical Corpus of Hungarian. Work has now begun on the dictionary itself. It will contain approximately 100,000 entries in eight volumes. Each sense of each headword will be illustrated with actual corpus examples, including bibliographic references to the sources. The period to be covered is 1772-2000. The present paper summarizes lessons learnt while working on the letter A.
